Borderlands 4 story DLC
Borderlands 4 announced its first story expansion, “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned,” due later this month and introducing a new playable hunter, C4SH, with a dedicated combat kit (kitguru.net).
2K and Gearbox set a firm launch date of March 26, 2026 for Story Pack 1. (newsroom.2k.com) The expansion opens a new region called the Whispering Glacier, described as a frozen expanse strewn with derelict ships, eldritch growths and an alien monolith at its center. (kitguru.net) Access to the Glacier requires owning Story Pack 1 and completing the "A Lot to Process" mission in the Fadefields, and the content is recommended for Vault Hunters level 13 or higher. (newsroom.2k.com) New encounter systems include two major boss fights, roughly 16 minibosses and a World Boss mechanic that warps players into a nightmarish, randomized-boss dimension. (kitguru.net) Loot additions are specific: outlets report three new Pearlescent weapons, 11 pieces of Legendary gear and about 28 new cosmetic items, with Steam listing four Vault Hunter heads, four weapon skins and two vehicle skins among those cosmetics. (xboxachievements.com) The new Vault Hunter’s kit revolves around the Windfall trait (stacks of Fortune boosting damage), three chance-driven Action Skills named Cross‑Fire, Sleight of Hand and Cleromancy, and three skill trees—Chaos Walking, Luck of the Draw and Roll the Bones—that add extra Augment slots instead of traditional capstones. (kitguru.net) Story Pack 1 is included in the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition and the Vault Hunter Pack but will also be sold separately, and it arrives alongside a major update adding shared progression across characters while cross‑platform saves remain planned for a later update.
