Lawsuit Filed Against GEA Mechanical Over Unpaid Wages

A lawsuit has been filed against GEA Mechanical Equipment US, Inc. for allegedly failing to pay employees accurate wages. The suit claims the company inaccurately recorded employee time, leading to missed overtime pay and incorrect pay statements in violation of California Labor Codes. The action was brought by the law firm Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP.

The class-action lawsuit against GEA Mechanical Equipment US, Inc. is filed in the Stanislaus County Superior Court, case number CV-25-012103. The complaint alleges a broader range of violations than just inaccurate timekeeping, including the failure to pay minimum and overtime wages. Beyond wage discrepancies, the suit claims GEA failed to provide legally required meal and rest periods, did not reimburse employees for necessary business expenses, and failed to pay sick wages. These allegations point to potential violations of multiple sections of the California Labor Code, including 201-203, 226, 226.7, 510, and 1194, among others. If the company is found liable, penalties for pay stub violations alone can be $50 for an initial violation and $100 for each subsequent one, up to a maximum of $4,000 per employee. The Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) could also lead to further civil penalties, with employees receiving 25% of the penalties collected by the state. The law firm behind the suit, Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, specializes in employment law and has a history of filing similar class-action complaints against companies for alleged California Labor Code violations. GEA Mechanical Equipment US, Inc., formerly known as GEA Westfalia Separator, is a manufacturer of industrial separators and decanters. It is part of the larger GEA Group, a global German technology corporation that supplies systems for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors.
