Xiaomi’s radical EV concept
Xiaomi teased a Vision Gran Turismo EV concept with radical aero and interior ideas that could influence future production models — the MotorTrend post (Mar 16) showed it getting buzz online (1.8K views) for its forward-thinking design cues MotorTrend.
The Vision Gran Turismo was revealed at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, marking Xiaomi as the first Chinese brand invited into the Vision GT program (gtplanet.net) and the concept was produced after a personal invitation from Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. (motortrend.com) Xiaomi’s spec sheet and press materials list the concept’s peak output near 1,900 horsepower and describe a 900‑volt silicon‑carbide electrical architecture underpinning the drivetrain. (electrek.co) The company states the body achieves a coefficient of drag of 0.29 and an aerodynamic efficiency (downforce-to-drag) of about 4.1:1, numbers Xiaomi credits to a teardrop cockpit and large venturi tunnels channelling air beneath the car. (electrek.co) A headline aero hardware feature called “Accretion Rims” uses magnetically stabilised, non‑rotating wheel covers with internal turbine fins, and Xiaomi says an Active Wake Control System uses micro‑perforations around the rear light to actively shape the wake. (electrek.co) Inside, Xiaomi labels the layout a “Sofa Racer,” trading bucket seats for a warmer cockpit and layering a panoramic head‑up display plus multiple round instruments — Carscoops notes a steering wheel with five circular screens in the concept. (electrek.co) Design lead Tianyuan Li (also known as Sawyer Li) guided the project with teams in Shanghai, Beijing and Munich, and MotorTrend reports the full‑size physical model was realised with heavy input from Xiaomi’s Munich studio.
