Dublin Airports Expect St. Patrick's Surge
Dublin and Shannon airports anticipate 900,000 passengers for St. Patrick’s Day and rugby matches, a 7% rise from 2025.
The surge is attributed to a "triple-threat" of events: the Cheltenham Festival, the Six Nations Rugby matches, and the St. Patrick's Festival. Dublin Airport anticipates Friday, March 13th, and Sunday, March 15th, will be the busiest days, with roughly 116,000 passengers moving through the terminals each day. Dublin Airport is preparing for the influx with a "vivid green makeover," including shamrocks and Irish dancing imagery. They're also adding 100 customer service volunteers, expanding security fast-track lanes, and opening pop-up immigration booths. Shannon Airport is adding extra Ryanair flights to Birmingham to accommodate travelers heading to the Cheltenham Festival. The airport has also been decorated with a St. Patrick's Day theme to welcome visitors.
