Fremont Restaurant Week Kicks Off
Fremont's Restaurant Week is officially underway, running from March 6-15. The event features 70 local restaurants, with Mayor Raj Salwan kicking things off at Fremont Bank to encourage residents to dine locally and support the city's diverse food scene.
This year marks the 4th installment of Fremont Restaurant Week, an event that has steadily grown since its inception. The first Restaurant Week was launched in 2023 to encourage local dining after the pandemic, with an initial 40 restaurants participating. This year, the number of participating establishments has jumped to 70, showcasing the event's increasing popularity and significance for local businesses. The 10-day event is a collaborative effort between the City of Fremont, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and Yelp Bay Area. This partnership aims to highlight the diverse culinary landscape of the city, with cuisines ranging from American and Mexican to Indian, East and Southeast Asian, and various fusion styles. Diners are encouraged to pick up a "Fremont Restaurant Week Passport" at participating eateries. Each restaurant visit earns a sticker, and each sticker serves as an entry into a prize drawing. In 2024, over 3,000 passports were submitted, with prizes including gift cards to local businesses. Many restaurants offer exclusive, limited-time menu items specifically for the event, rather than just discounts. Past specials have included unique creations like a "1948 Rancher Burger" from Billy Roy's Burger Co. and special combos from various local favorites. A full list of this year's participating restaurants and their special offerings is available on the official Fremont Restaurant Week website. A new feature for the 4th Annual Restaurant Week is a partnership with DoorDash to introduce "Dot," an autonomous delivery device. This initiative will launch with an inaugural delivery at the kickoff event and aims to make it easier for residents to support local restaurants from home. The initial service area for these autonomous deliveries will include the Downtown/City Center, Centerville, and Irvington neighborhoods.
