New advisory group for San Antonio innovation

San Antonio Mayor Jones announced a new advisory group focused on fostering innovation and economic resilience in the city.

The advisory group is called the "Economic Security Advisory Group" (ESAG) and will focus on growing technology sectors, with a strong emphasis on AI, quantum technology, biotechnology, and space manufacturing. The ESAG will advise the Mayor on strategies to make San Antonio competitive in these key areas. Jim Perschbach, the President and CEO of Port San Antonio, will chair the 11-member group. Other members include leaders from Southwest Research Institute, Texas Biomed, and retired members of the Air Force and Navy with cybersecurity knowledge. The group is expected to meet quarterly and provide updates on skills training, knowledge gaps, and strategies for attracting and retaining companies. Mayor Jones and some members of the group will also travel to Taiwan on March 14 to meet with government officials and industry leaders.
