ICON's Titan system, designed to overcome limitations of earlier tech, can print taller and faster with fewer workers, even on challenging terrain. It aims to address labor issues, supply chain complexity and the need for resilient housing. The complete system includes the printer, pump, and ICON's BuildOS software. The company is offering the Titan system through leases initially, while gauging demand, but plans to sell them in early 2027 for around $899,000, excluding materials, designs, and software fees. Reservations are currently open with a $5,000 deposit. Customer training is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026. ICON has been developing its technology for years, and this move marks a shift towards allowing other builders to experiment with 3D printing. Previously, ICON primarily deployed its printers through its own projects and partnerships. The company estimates Titan can bring multi-story wall construction costs to around $20 per square foot. ICON's proprietary material, Carbon X, is a cement-based material used by Titan. The company claims it can withstand winds up to 250 mph and resist fire for nearly three hours, while also helping stabilize interior temperatures. ICON also continues to develop new materials, including low-carbon options. ICON has secured significant funding to advance its 3D printing efforts, including $62.8 million in new investment capital. The company has raised over $500 million in total funding. This investment will support the scaling of its 3D printing robotics, software, and advanced materials.
