Trump Announces TX Refinery Deal
President Trump announced a $300B oil refinery in Brownsville, TX—the first new U.S. refinery in 50 years, backed by India's Reliance Industries.
The refinery, spearheaded by America First Refining, is planned for the Port of Brownsville. It aims to process 168,000 barrels of U.S. shale oil per day. Reliance Industries will be a partner in the project. While Trump thanked Reliance for its investment, the company has not officially confirmed the details. Reliance operates the world's largest refining complex in Jamnagar, India. The facility intends to use advanced technologies to minimize environmental impact. It will produce refined petroleum products for both domestic consumption and international export. The project is projected to create thousands of jobs in South Texas. Construction could begin as early as Q2 2026. The refinery is expected to process 1.2 billion barrels of shale oil, producing 50 billion gallons of refined products. America First Refining also signed a 20-year offtake agreement with a global supermajor.
