March Madness Auto-Bid Secured

LIU grabbed the first automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA men's tournament due to Mercyhurst's ineligibility Tracking.

Mercyhurst was deemed ineligible due to not meeting the minimum requirement of four years of Division II membership before reclassifying to Division I. This opened the door for LIU to secure the automatic bid from the Northeast Conference (NEC). LIU's victory in the NEC tournament final against Le Moyne by a score of 71-61 sealed their place in March Madness. This marks LIU's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018. The NCAA acknowledged Mercyhurst's ineligibility, confirming that the automatic bid would be reassigned. The decision underscores the importance of adhering to NCAA regulations regarding divisional membership and reclassification.
