SF Launches First Cookbook Week
San Francisco is hosting its first-ever Cookbook Week with headliners Alison Roman and Christina Tosi leading a five-day festival. The event features collab dinners, book signings, free talks, baking pop-ups, and a live magazine-style show — making it a major destination event for Bay Area foodies.
The inaugural Cookbook Week builds on San Francisco's already bustling culinary event calendar, which includes established annual events like SF Restaurant Week. The city's literary and food scenes frequently intersect, with local bookstores like Book Passage regularly hosting author events and cookbook signings. Headliner Alison Roman's appearance follows the release of her fourth cookbook, "Something From Nothing," in late 2025. Known for her viral recipes and focus on pantry-based cooking, Roman has recently expanded her independent platform to include a newsletter, a YouTube series, and a grocery store in the Catskills. Fellow headliner Christina Tosi, the James Beard Award-winning chef behind Milk Bar, is expected to highlight her "Bake Club" project, which became a popular Instagram Live series. Tosi, who released her latest cookbook "Bake Club" in late 2024, has been focusing more on the creative side of Milk Bar after stepping down as CEO. The event taps into a strong local appetite for food-focused programming. San Francisco hosts a variety of specialized food festivals throughout the year, celebrating everything from craft beer and chocolate to international cuisines, indicating a ready audience for this new cookbook-centric festival.
