Zanesville Children's Charity Opens New, Expanded Facility
Heart to Heart, an organization that educates and supports children in Zanesville, Ohio, has opened a new facility. The updated building provides improved resources and will allow the non-profit to expand its services to more children in the local community.
- The new facility is a Nationwide Children's Hospital Close To Home℠ center, which opened on August 22, 2024, at 740 Adair Avenue in Zanesville. - This center is one of 24 such facilities operated by Nationwide Children's in central Ohio, with others recently opening in Athens and plans for future locations in Grove City and New Albany. - The Zanesville location offers specialized pediatric outpatient services, including cardiology, genetics, hematology/oncology, laboratory services, and urology. - Funding for the Zanesville center was expedited through the Health Resources and Services Administration Community Project, with support from Congressman Troy Balderson and Senator Sherrod Brown. - Nationwide Children's has had a presence in Zanesville since 2012 through a partnership with Genesis Hospital, providing pediatric hospitalists. - In addition to this new facility, a school-based health center also opened in the Maysville Local School District in partnership with Muskingum Valley Health Centers, funded by Governor Mike DeWine's Appalachian Children's Health Initiative. - The school-based health center in Maysville offers comprehensive primary care and mental health services within the middle-high school building. - Nationwide Children's Hospital has also been involved in supporting the expansion of school-based clinical services in Zanesville City and Maysville Local school districts since 2022.
