ModaMiami's Top 10 Classics
The ModaMiami event recently showcased the top 10 classic and collector cars of the year, ranging from rare European exotics to iconic American muscle. This year's highlights include meticulously restored classics and unique barn finds, reflecting the diversity of the current collector market.
ModaMiami's recent showcase at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables distinguished itself from traditional concours events by blending high-end automobiles with fashion, art, and hospitality. This approach aims to create a more immersive and dynamic experience for both seasoned collectors and a new generation of enthusiasts. The event featured a curated selection of nearly 400 vehicles, ranging from pre-war classics to modern hypercars. A key highlight was the gathering of several past "Best of Show" winners from the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, including a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster. Among the top honors, the "Best of Show - Classic" was awarded to a 1934 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Lungo Spider. This model is renowned for its supercharged straight-eight engine and a storied racing history that includes multiple wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1930s. The "Best of Show - Post-War" title was claimed by a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTS/4 NART Spider. As one of only 10 ever built at the request of U.S. importer Luigi Chinetti, this model is one of the most coveted road-going Ferraris, with one example having previously sold for over $27 million. A 1995 McLaren F1 took home the "Best of Show - Modern" award, a testament to its enduring legacy as a pinnacle of automotive engineering. With a top speed of over 240 mph, it remains the fastest naturally aspirated production car ever made. The event also featured a significant auction hosted by RM Sotheby's. High-profile sales included a 1953 Ferrari 250 Europa Coupe, one of only 22 built and featuring a design by Vignale. Another notable car was the rare 1967 Ferrari 365 California Spyder, of which only 14 were ever produced. Beyond the showstoppers, the event celebrated various automotive niches. A special display honored the 101st birthday of Carroll Shelby, featuring iconic cars like a Toyota 2000GT that was tuned by the legend himself. ModaMiami also showcased unique collections such as "The American Dream," which featured a 1948 Tucker 48, and a "Rally Icons" collection. This diversity highlights the broad spectrum of the current collector car market, from iconic American innovators to European rally legends.
