Wrike surfaces MCP in GPT Store
- Wrike said Tuesday its Model Context Protocol server is now available through OpenAI’s GPT Store, letting ChatGPT connect directly to Wrike workspaces. - The company said the setup uses OAuth 2.0, separate revocable connections for each assistant, and an audit trail for actions taken. - OpenAI has been expanding MCP tools in ChatGPT and its API for enterprise integrations. Wrike said on April 28 that its Model Context Protocol server is now available through OpenAI’s GPT Store, letting ChatGPT connect to live Wrike workspaces. (tmcnet.com) (wrike.com) Model Context Protocol, or MCP, is a standard way for an AI assistant to discover tools, read structured context, and call approved actions from another system. OpenAI’s developer docs describe remote MCP servers as public internet endpoints that give models new capabilities through tool calls. (openai.com 1) (openai.com 2) In Wrike’s case, that means ChatGPT can pull task and project context from Wrike and trigger actions inside the work-management platform instead of staying limited to a chat window. Wrike said teams can bring work context into AI conversations and turn outputs into action inside Wrike. (wrike.com) (financialcontent.com) Wrike said the new release adds governed, OAuth-secured connectivity, with each AI assistant getting its own revocable connection and defined permissions. The company also said every action is attributable and auditable through a full trail. (morningstar.com) (financialcontent.com) That pitch targets a specific enterprise problem: companies want AI to work on real tasks, but they also want permissions, logs, and the ability to revoke access. Wrike said connecting the product through OpenAI’s marketplace reduces the need for custom infrastructure and engineering-heavy setup. (wrike.com) (morningstar.com) OpenAI has been building out the same plumbing on its side. Its docs say ChatGPT includes connectors for some services, while remote MCP servers can be any public server that implements the protocol. (openai.com 1) (openai.com 2) OpenAI’s Help Center also says full MCP support and developer mode are available on ChatGPT web for Business, Enterprise, and Edu customers, with admins able to control authorization and workspace access. That gives enterprise buyers a policy layer around the same kind of tool access Wrike is now exposing. (openai.com) Wrike had already been positioning MCP as a bridge between enterprise work data and outside assistants. In a March post, Chief Product Officer Alexey Korotich said the company launched Wrike MCP Server last year for tools including Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT. (wrike.com) The new GPT Store listing turns that earlier server work into a storefront distribution channel. Instead of building a one-off connector, Wrike is packaging governed access to projects, tasks, and workflows where ChatGPT users can activate it directly. (wrike.com) (tmcnet.com)
