Forza Horizon 6 Confirmed: Japan Setting
Forza Horizon 6 is confirmed and will take place in Japan, fulfilling a long-standing community wish.
The game is slated to launch on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 release later in the year. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on release day. Those who purchase the Premium Edition can get early access starting May 15. Playground Games chose Japan as the setting due to its popularity among fans and the studio's readiness to accurately represent the country without technical limitations. Art director Don Arceta noted Japan's unique culture and contrasts, with urban areas, mountainous roads, and open fields. The game aims to capture Japan's cultural essence rather than create a one-to-one recreation. The game's version of Tokyo is described as the "most complex and intricate drivable space" in the series, being five times larger than previous urban areas. Players will start as tourists and progress through the Horizon Festival ranks, earning wristbands by completing races and events. The wristband progression system from the original Forza Horizon makes a return.
