Hard Techno DJs Dropped from Events

The allegations originated from a series of social media posts by an individual claiming to be a former employee of the Paris-based agency Steer Management. The posts included screenshots of chat conversations and leveled accusations against several artists on the agency's roster. The DJs who have been dropped from lineups include prominent names in the hard techno scene such as Shlømo, Odymel, CARV, Basswell, and Fantasm. In response to the allegations, Steer Management announced it would suspend its collaboration with the involved artists. A number of other artists have also since cut ties with the management company. A wide array of festivals and clubs across the globe acted swiftly, removing the accused DJs from their schedules. These include events such as HIVE Festival, Pitch Music & Arts, Verknipt, Awakenings, and DGTL, among others. Some of the accused artists have publicly denied the allegations, with Shlømo referring to them as "slander" and Fantasm accusing the original poster of defamation. Others, like CARV, admitted to "unfaithful" behavior but denied any criminal wrongdoing, while Odymel cited a rare sleep disorder known as sexsomnia. This situation has been widely described as a "#MeToo moment" for the hard techno genre, sparking a broader conversation about power dynamics, artist conduct, and safety within the electronic music community. Many artists have released statements supporting the alleged victims. In the wake of the allegations, new support networks are emerging. The campaign group METOODJS is collecting testimonies from victims of sexual assault within the electronic music scene and connecting them with legal and psychological support. This initiative signals a growing demand for structural change and accountability.
