TAEMIN at the GRAMMY Museum

A TAEMIN exhibition titled “Performer. Artist. Icon.” opened at the GRAMMY Museum this week, presenting the K-pop star in a museum exhibition format. The social reaction framed the show as a focused celebration of TAEMIN’s career and performance identity. (x.com)

TAEMIN’s “Performer. Artist. Icon.” opened at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles on April 1 and runs through May 25 in the museum’s fourth-floor gallery. (grammymuseum.org) The GRAMMY Museum said the display includes two stage outfits and several artifacts: a red-and-black look from the 2024-2025 “Ephemeral Gaze” world tour, a white outfit from the 2025 “Veil” arena tour and “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” plus in-ear monitors, a white microphone, an official lightstick, and a handwritten note to fans. (grammymuseum.org) The museum called it its first display dedicated to a solo K-pop artist. Billboard reported the show makes TAEMIN the first K-pop soloist to receive a dedicated display at the downtown Los Angeles institution. (grammymuseum.org; billboard.com) The timing lines up with another milestone. The GRAMMY Museum said the exhibit opens just before TAEMIN’s Coachella debut as the first male solo K-pop artist scheduled to perform at the festival. (grammymuseum.org; grammymuseum.org) TAEMIN first became widely known as a member of SHINee, the group that debuted in 2008 under SM Entertainment. Billboard said he launched his solo career in 2014 with the extended play “Ace.” (billboard.com) The exhibit also lands after two years of broader K-pop programming at the museum. In March 2024, the Recording Academy said the GRAMMY Museum was beginning a run of specialized K-pop exhibits and programs with a pop-up centered on ATEEZ and xikers. (recordingacademy.com) In a statement published by Billboard, TAEMIN said the outfits and artifacts “hold memories” of moments onstage and said he hoped visitors would feel the “passion and love for music” behind his work. (billboard.com) At the museum, that career is being presented as objects in a gallery rather than as a live set: two costumes, a microphone, in-ear monitors, and a handwritten note arranged as a short retrospective through May 25.
