AI-driven inventory management is becoming essential for controlling costs in the hospitality sector, where tight profit margins are common. These systems analyze historical sales data, booking trends, and even external factors like local events and weather to forecast demand. This predictive capability helps optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and cut down on storage expenses. For multi-property resort chains, the debate between centralized and decentralized distribution is critical. A centralized model offers streamlined control and lower operational costs by consolidating inventory in one main hub. However, a decentralized approach, with warehouses closer to individual properties, enables faster delivery times and better responsiveness to local demand fluctuations. Some companies adopt a hybrid model, storing high-demand items locally while keeping less popular products at a central facility. In the Caribbean, logistics are complicated by the region's geography, including varied island terrains and the risk of hurricanes. These systems integrate with channel managers and booking engines to prevent overbookings and ensure rate parity across all sales channels. The global market for hotel and hospitality management software was valued at over USD 4 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow significantly. Cloud-based systems are the dominant model, accounting for the majority of the market share. Property Management Systems (PMS) represent the largest segment, highlighting their role as the operational core for hotels. AI's role extends beyond inventory to enhancing the guest experience through personalization. By analyzing guest preferences and past behavior, AI can help anticipate needs and tailor services. In operations, AI is also being used to optimize energy consumption and promote sustainability by adjusting lighting and temperature based on real-time occupancy data.
