Samsung Unveils Bespoke AI Kitchen Appliances

Samsung has introduced a new line of Bespoke AI appliances at the KBIS 2026 industry show. The collection, which includes French Door refrigerators and pro-style ranges, is designed to integrate into kitchens and anticipate user needs. Industry analysts suggest Samsung's long-term strategy is to create a connected kitchen that solves problems before users are aware of them.

- The Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub features upgraded AI Vision technology that uses internal cameras to identify up to 37 types of fresh food and 50 pre-registered processed items, allowing it to suggest recipes based on available ingredients. - A key design innovation for the new French Door refrigerators is the inclusion of specially designed hinges and slim door profiles that allow the doors to fully open with only 4mm of clearance, enabling a seamless, built-in look even when placed directly against a wall. - The new pro-style slide-in ranges feature illuminated stainless steel knobs and a soft-close oven door, with cooking modes like No Preheat Air Fry Max and Air Sous Vide for precise temperature control. - Samsung is also leveraging its luxury built-in brand, Dacor, to introduce concepts like the "hidden kitchen," where appliances are concealed within cabinetry, and a new line of wine appliances, including a dispenser with dual temperature zones for four separate bottles. - All appliances connect through the SmartThings platform, which allows for remote monitoring and can reduce refrigerator energy consumption by up to 15% through its AI Energy Mode. - To address reliability, Samsung introduced a Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM) service that monitors the operational status of appliances and provides remote diagnostics and support. - The integration of Bixby, Samsung's voice assistant, allows for hands-free operation, such as asking the refrigerator to recommend recipes based on its recognized food inventory. - Industry analysts note that by showcasing these products at KBIS, an event for kitchen designers, builders, and retailers, Samsung is making a strategic push to embed its AI ecosystem directly into new home construction and remodels, moving beyond individual appliance sales.
