Michelin adds nine NYC spots

Michelin released a spring update to its New York selection, adding nine restaurants — five in Brooklyn and four in Manhattan — to the guide. Michelin updates New York twice a year and frames these new entries as a “watch list” ahead of the fall announcements for Stars and Bib Gourmands, per local reporting. ( )

Michelin added nine New York City restaurants to its 2026 guide update on March 25, putting five Brooklyn spots and four Manhattan spots on inspectors’ radar. (guide.michelin.com) (fox5ny.com) The new entries are Entre Nous, Los Burritos Juárez, Bong, Vato and I Cavallini in Brooklyn, plus Le Chêne, Hwaro, Elcielo New York and Cove in Manhattan. Michelin said new restaurants are added to the Selection twice a year and marked with a “New” symbol on its site and app. (guide.michelin.com) (fox5ny.com) Michelin describes these additions as part of its broader Selection, not as star awards. The company said Stars and Bib Gourmands are revealed later at its annual ceremony, and restaurants added now can receive those awards in subsequent years. (guide.michelin.com) (fox5ny.com) Brooklyn accounted for more than half of this round, with Clinton Hill landing two of the five borough entries. The Brooklyn group spans a wine bar, a burrito shop, a Cambodian shared-plates restaurant, a daytime tortilleria and an Italian restaurant in Williamsburg. (guide.michelin.com) Manhattan’s four additions stretch from Greenwich Village to Midtown West, NoMad and SoHo. Michelin’s writeups highlight Le Chêne’s classic French menu, Hwaro’s 22-seat counter inside Gui, Elcielo New York in NoMad and Cove in SoHo. (guide.michelin.com) (fox5ny.com) Michelin says its inspectors judge restaurants on ingredient quality, flavor harmony, mastery of cooking techniques, the chef’s voice and consistency. Those criteria apply to guide selections as well as the higher-profile Star and Bib Gourmand distinctions. (fox5ny.com) The New York guide currently lists 358 restaurants on Michelin’s official site. That means the spring additions enter a large field before the next round of awards later in 2026. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) For diners, the update works as an early map of places Michelin wants people watching before the fall ceremony cycle begins again. For the nine restaurants, it is a public step from being open in New York to being officially listed in the guide. (guide.michelin.com) (fox5ny.com)
