Easyship partners with FedEx for discounted shipping in Canada

Shipping platform Easyship has launched discounted FedEx shipping services for its Canadian e-commerce merchants. The integration, available via its API platform, provides merchants with access to services including integrated quoting, label generation, and tracking.

- This partnership provides Canadian merchants access to a range of FedEx services, including FedEx Ground® for domestic shipments, FedEx® International Connect Plus (FICP) for international e-commerce, and various priority services for time-sensitive deliveries. Merchants can access these discounted rates through the Easyship platform without needing a separate FedEx business account or meeting minimum shipping volumes. - The Canadian e-commerce logistics market reached USD 14.8 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to USD 35.7 billion by 2033. This growth is driven by over 27 million e-commerce users in Canada, a number expected to encompass 77.6% of the population by 2025. - Easyship's platform integrates with major e-commerce systems like Shopify, Amazon, and WooCommerce, offering features such as automated label generation, branded tracking pages, and tools for calculating import duties and taxes for cross-border shipments. This level of API-driven automation is critical for managing the complexities of both domestic and international fulfillment. - From a platform perspective, logistics APIs are crucial for synchronizing data between e-commerce storefronts, warehouse management systems, and transportation carriers, enabling real-time order and inventory updates. Secure and scalable API integrations, using methods like OAuth2 and JWT, are essential for connecting disparate systems and adding new carriers or services without significant infrastructure changes. - The integration of AI in logistics platforms is a growing trend, used for optimizing delivery routes, predicting demand, automating warehouse processes, and providing real-time tracking and exception handling. AI-driven analytics help to identify potential supply chain disruptions and improve overall operational efficiency, moving from reactive to predictive models. - For FedEx, this partnership aligns with its strategy to enhance its e-commerce and small business offerings to drive revenue growth. The company's stock (FDX) has seen positive momentum, with analysts noting strong performance in the US Logistics industry. However, the company faces challenges from rising operational costs and the need to modernize operations.
