Google Gemini Push

- Google expanded Gemini into Docs, Sheets, Chat and Chrome with features like draft formatting and in-browser actions. - Gemini Embedding 2 is generally available and Google launched a Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform for teams. - The updates show AI moving from experimental tools into integrated, governed productivity and automation workflows. Google is pushing Gemini deeper into the software people already use for work, from Docs and Sheets to Chat and Chrome. (workspace.google.com) On March 10, Google said Gemini in Docs can generate a fully formatted first draft by pulling context from Drive, Gmail, Chat and the web, then apply styles and smart chips inside the document. The same Workspace push expanded Gemini across Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive for business users and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. (workspace.google.com) Google’s admin documentation now lists Gemini in the side panel of Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive and Chat as part of Workspace plans, while Chat help pages say Gemini can summarize conversations, extract action items and answer questions about a thread or space. (knowledge.workspace.google.com, support.google.com) In Chrome, Google is also moving from chat to action. Chrome Enterprise policy pages say admins can allow or block Gemini from taking actions on web pages, and that control has been supported in Chrome since version 143. (chromeenterprise.google) The same shift showed up in Google Cloud on April 22 at Next ’26, where Google launched Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform as the successor path for Vertex AI agent work. Google said future Vertex AI services and roadmap updates for agent development will be delivered through the new platform rather than as a standalone service. (cloud.google.com, cloud.google.com) Google says the platform adds agent integration, DevOps, orchestration and security, and gives customers access to more than 200 models through Model Garden, including Google models and third-party options such as Anthropic’s Claude family. The company is pairing that with a Gemini Enterprise app for employees to discover, run and govern Google-made, partner and custom agents in one place. (cloud.google.com, cloud.google.com) An embedding model is the indexing layer behind many search and retrieval systems: it turns text, images, audio or video into numerical coordinates so related items sit close together. Google’s Gemini Embedding 2, which is now generally available in documentation published April 22, accepts text, images, audio, video and PDF files and can return vectors up to 3,072 dimensions. (docs.cloud.google.com) That matters because the same underlying system can now connect a document, an image, a clip of audio and a video segment inside one search space. Google says Gemini Embedding 2 is designed for retrieval and analytics tasks such as matching an image to a text description, with task-specific instructions and adjustable output size. (docs.cloud.google.com) Google is also wrapping these tools in enterprise controls. The Agent Platform documentation says teams can build, scale, govern and optimize agents grounded in company data, while Chrome and Workspace admin pages show the same pattern of feature controls and plan-based availability. (docs.cloud.google.com, chromeenterprise.google, knowledge.workspace.google.com) By late April 2026, Google’s Gemini pitch is less about a separate chatbot and more about software that drafts the document, summarizes the chat, searches across formats and, in some cases, acts inside the browser under admin rules.
