The 13.1-mile course starts near Prospect Park, crosses the Brooklyn Bridge, runs through Times Square, and finishes in Central Park. The event includes elite athletes and city agency participants.
The race kicks off near the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park, challenging runners with Battle Pass Hill. From there, the 13.1-mile route loops around Grand Army Plaza and passes the Barclays Center before heading to the Manhattan-bound Brooklyn Bridge. This is only the second year that the race will utilize the Brooklyn Bridge. After crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, runners will navigate the Lower East Side before merging onto the FDR Drive, offering scenic views of the East River and the United Nations. The route then exits onto 42nd Street, guiding participants past Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library before hitting the bright lights of Times Square. The final stretch leads into Central Park, finishing near Tavern on the Green around 67th Street. This year's race boasts a star-studded lineup, including defending champions Abel Kipchumba, Sharon Lokedi, and Geert Schipper. Olympic medalist Grant Fisher is making his half marathon debut. The women's division includes Hellen Obiri, Agnes Ngetich, and top American runners like Emily Sisson. Adding to the excitement, the Commissioner's Cup will feature teams from city agencies, including the NYPD, FDNY, and NYC Parks, competing for bragging rights. More than 1,500 kids will participate in the Times Square Kids Run. Expect significant road closures in Brooklyn and Manhattan throughout the weekend.
