GTA 6 PC timing chatter

An industry insider is pointing to a possible PC launch as early as February 2027, and leaked finance notes cited by outlets argue consoles still drive roughly 97% of GTA Online revenue—facts that are being used to explain Rockstar’s PC timing choices. ( )

Talk of a February 2027 personal computer release for Grand Theft Auto VI is gaining traction, but Rockstar Games has not announced any personal computer date. (gameranx.com) The current official date is November 19, 2026, and Rockstar says that launch is for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar posted that date on its Newswire after moving the game from an earlier May 26, 2026 target. (rockstargames.com) The February 2027 window comes from posts attributed to the leaker DetectiveSeeds and has been repeated by outlets including Gameranx and Beebom. Neither Rockstar nor parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that timing. (gameranx.com, beebom.com) The business case being attached to that rumor comes from alleged internal finance material discussed by games.gg and Rock Paper Shotgun. Those reports say about 97% of Grand Theft Auto Online revenue in the leaked snapshot came from console players, not personal computer players. (games.gg, rockpapershotgun.com) Take-Two’s public filings do not break Grand Theft Auto Online revenue out by platform, but they do show why the mode matters. In the company’s latest quarterly releases, recurrent consumer spending made up 76% to 79% of net bookings, and Grand Theft Auto Online was listed among the largest contributors. (take2games.com, ir.take2games.com) That helps explain why fans are reading the platform order as a revenue decision as much as a development decision. Rockstar has a long history of shipping its biggest games on consoles first and bringing them to personal computer later. (take2games.com, beebom.com) Take-Two Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick has also said personal computer is an increasingly important part of the games business, even as the company kept Grand Theft Auto VI’s announced platforms to consoles. That leaves room for a personal computer version without putting a date on it. (notebookcheck.net, take2games.com) There is a second number behind the speculation: analysts at DFC Intelligence told the Financial Times, as reported by GameSpot, that Grand Theft Auto VI could generate $3.2 billion in its first year, including about $1 billion in preorders. A staggered release would let Rockstar and Take-Two sell the game twice to different audiences on different schedules. (gamespot.com) For now, the hard facts are narrower than the chatter. Grand Theft Auto VI is officially set for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and every personal computer date circulating this week remains a rumor. (rockstargames.com)
