Paris Baguette Opens in Richardson, TX

The bakery-café chain Paris Baguette opened a new location in Richardson, Texas, on February 27. The expansion reflects the brand's continued growth and effort to increase its market share in the bakery-café space.

Despite its name, Paris Baguette was founded in Seoul, South Korea, in 1988 by businessman Hur Young-in as a subsidiary of the SPC Group. The concept was to introduce a French-inspired bakery culture to Korea, a vision that has since grown into a global chain with over 4,000 locations. The company has ambitious growth plans for North America, aiming to reach 1,000 locations in the U.S. and 100 in Canada by 2030, led by North America CEO Darren Tipton. This rapid expansion is fueled by a strategy of partnering with local franchise owners who are passionate about the "neighborhood bakery" concept. Texas is a key part of this North American strategy. The Richardson location is the brand's 25th in the state, with more planned, including a five-unit development agreement by the Richardson franchisees. To support this growth, Paris Baguette is investing $160 million in a new 260,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Burleson, Texas, which is expected to be operational by mid-2027 and create 450 jobs. Paris Baguette differentiates itself in a crowded market by focusing on being a "true bakery," with 80% of its sales coming from breads, pastries, and cakes. Many locations feature "cake rooms" where customers can watch the decorating process, emphasizing the freshness and craftsmanship of their products. This focus on a high-quality, immersive bakery experience has led to 20 consecutive quarters of positive sales in North America.
