ByteDance Launches Seedance 2.0 AI Video Generator
ByteDance, the parent of TikTok and CapCut, has launched Seedance 2.0, an AI model that creates short, cinematic-quality videos from text, image, and audio prompts. The new tool, which competes with models like Runway's Gen-4.5, is already at the center of a copyright debate over its training data, highlighting the legal risks of using AI-generated assets.
- Seedance 2.0's "director-level" controls allow for a high degree of creative precision by using a mix of text, images, video clips, and audio to guide the final output. For instance, a user can upload up to nine images, three video clips, and three audio files to control elements like character appearance, motion, and rhythm within a single generation. - The model can automatically generate storyboards, sound effects, and music that synchronize with the video, integrating tasks that typically require separate editing, sound design, and scoring work.
