Hollister, Japanese Eateries To Open At Stoneridge

- Apparel retailer Hollister plus two Japanese eateries are set to open later this year at Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Mall. - Mall owners say the additions aim to refresh the retail mix and draw more diners and shoppers. - These new leases follow broader mall redevelopment trends and could affect foot traffic and local employment (patch.com).

Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton says Hollister, Maruwu Seicha and Onigilly Japanese Kitchen are all set to open later in 2026. (pleasantonweekly.com) Hollister is scheduled for a third-quarter opening, according to the mall’s announcement reported by Patch. The teen apparel chain will join other clothing brands at the center including Zara, Lululemon, Uniqlo and Fabletics. (patch.com) Maruwu Seicha, a Japanese tea shop focused on matcha drinks, is planned for the mall’s first level. KRON4 reported the store will go next to Apple and Lush, and the menu is expected to include matcha lattes, matcha Americanos and hojicha lattes. (kron4.com) Onigilly Japanese Kitchen is also headed to Stoneridge later this year. The chain built its menu around onigiri, the handheld rice balls sold as a common grab-and-go food in Japan, along with bowls, desserts and drinks. (pleasantonweekly.com) For Stoneridge, the mix matters because the center is leaning harder into food and newer brands as malls compete for longer visits, not just quick purchases. The City of Pleasanton described the property in March 2025 as a mall with more than 140 brands and restaurants, while Simon markets it as a two-level center with more than 165 stores and restaurants. (cityofpleasantonca.gov, simon.com) The two food tenants also widen the mall’s Japanese offerings in a city that already has sit-down spots such as Yuyake DanDan Izakaya and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar near or inside the Stoneridge area. That points to landlords betting that specialty dining can keep shoppers on site longer. (simon.com, kurasushi.com, yuyakedandan.com) Both restaurant brands are also using Pleasanton to fill East Bay gaps. Patch reported Stoneridge will be Onigilly’s first East Bay location, and Onigilly’s own location list currently shows stores in San Francisco, Daly City, Milpitas, Palo Alto, San Mateo and Santa Clara, but none in the East Bay. (patch.com, onigilly.com) Maruwu Seicha appears to be on a similar expansion path. Its official site lists a Palo Alto shop, and other current Bay Area locations include San Francisco’s Japantown and San Pedro Square in San Jose. (maruwuseicha.square.site, sfjapantown.org, sanpedrosquaremarket.com) These openings follow other recent leasing news at Stoneridge, including plans for Pop Mart, an arcade and a training gym that Patch reported earlier this month. The next test is whether new food counters and a familiar apparel name can convert that leasing burst into steadier foot traffic later this year. (patch.com)
