Acclaimed Pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani Opens in Livermore

Slice House, a pizzeria from 13-time world pizza champion Tony Gemignani, has opened in Livermore. The new East Bay location features a unique pizza creation from the acclaimed chef.

Tony Gemignani is a Fremont native who began his journey in the pizza industry in 1991 at his brother's pizzeria in Castro Valley. He is a 13-time World Pizza Champion and was the first American and non-Neapolitan to win the World Pizza Cup in Naples, Italy, for Best Pizza Margherita. Gemignani also holds four Guinness World Records, including for the largest pizza and the most consecutive rolls of a pizza base across the shoulders. His flagship restaurant, Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco's North Beach, is a culinary landmark. Gemignani's restaurant group includes nearly 30 establishments across Northern California and Las Vegas, such as Pizza Rock and Capo's. He is also the proprietor of the International School of Pizza, where he has been certifying chefs from around the world for over 15 years. The Slice House franchise is rapidly expanding, with nearly 150 locations open or in development across the country. In 2024, Slice House was named the #1 Overall Brand by Pizza Marketplace's Top 100 Movers & Shakers. The menu typically features a variety of pizza styles including New York, Sicilian, Detroit, and Grandma-style, available by the slice or as whole pies. Beyond his restaurants, Gemignani is an author, having published "The Pizza Bible" and a children's book. He has also partnered with Princess Cruises to create exclusive pizza offerings at sea. His dedication to the craft is encapsulated in his personal motto: "Respect the Craft."
