GAC’s Aion UT is reaching the UK as the Chinese carmaker starts British sales under its own Aion brand. GAC said on July 15, 2025 that it had signed a UK joint venture with Jameel Motors, and said the Aion UT and Aion V would be its first two models for Britain with deliveries planned from the first quarter of 2026. The Aion UT’s European specification lists a 60 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery, a 150 kilowatt front motor, and a WLTP combined range of 430 kilometers, or about 267 miles. UK retail pages for the car are already live, with Aion advertising test drives for the UT on its British site as the model moves from announcement to market launch. The car lands in a UK market that has been adding electric models quickly. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said battery-electric cars took a record 23.0% share of Britain’s new-car market in 2025. GAC is pitching the UT into the compact hatchback class, where British buyers already know cars such as the Volkswagen ID.3. Autocar reported in July 2025 that GAC planned to undercut established electric rivals as it entered the UK. Independent UK listings point to a starting price around £25,000 and an expected market arrival in October 2026, though those figures are marked as estimates rather than final manufacturer pricing. The UK rollout also comes as Europe keeps a close watch on Chinese-built electric cars. The European Commission imposed definitive countervailing duties on battery-electric vehicle imports from China in October 2024, but the UK is outside that European Union trade regime. For GAC, the immediate test is simpler than the trade debate: whether a new badge can win UK buyers with familiar numbers on price, range and charging.
