SiteGround Launches AI App Builder for SMBs
Web hosting platform SiteGround has launched Coderick AI, a new tool aimed at making custom software development accessible for small businesses. The AI app builder is designed to remove the technical and financial hurdles to creating custom applications.
SiteGround's Coderick AI is not just a feature addition but a strategic move to bundle the entire application lifecycle—from building and deploying to hosting and security—into a single, chat-based workflow. By integrating its own infrastructure, SiteGround aims to reduce the friction users experience when moving from code generation to a live, production-ready application. This "vibe coding" approach uses large language models to translate natural language prompts into websites and web apps. The platform is designed to be production-ready from the start, automatically including features like version control, user authentication, and a pre-configured backend and database. This contrasts with many AI builders that generate code or layouts but leave the user to handle hosting, database setup, and security configurations. Coderick AI is built on SiteGround's existing enterprise-grade security and Google Cloud infrastructure, a platform battle-tested for over 20 years. This launch reflects a broader trend of web hosting providers evolving from passive infrastructure services into integrated product platforms. The goal is to capture users at the creation stage rather than competing solely on hosting specifications. This strategy directly addresses the increasing demand for faster launch times and reduced complexity, especially for users without a technical background. Founded in a university dorm room in 2004, SiteGround has grown to host over 2.8 million domains. The company, led by CEO Tenko Nikolov who started as a support agent, has a history of building its solutions in-house. This move into the AI app builder space pits them against a new set of competitors like Softr, Bubble, and Retool, which are also targeting the no-code and low-code development market for SMBs.
