EDC Colombia Debuts in Medellín
EDC Colombia will make its debut edition on October 10-11, 2026, at Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot in Medellín. This marks the first time EDC organizers are leaving their traditional markets to expand internationally.
- While billed as a major international expansion, this is not the first EDC outside of its traditional markets; the festival has previously been hosted in countries including Mexico, the UK, Brazil, India, Japan, and China. - The festival's organizer, Insomniac, was founded by Pasquale Rotella and held the first Electric Daisy Carnival as a warehouse party in Los Angeles in 1997. - To illustrate the brand's scale, the flagship event, EDC Las Vegas, drew an attendance of 525,000 people over three days in 2024. - Medellín is a strategic choice for the festival's South American debut, as the city is known for its thriving underground house and techno scene and has been dubbed the "techno capital of South America." - The venue is a massive multi-sport complex that opened in 1953; its main stadium alone has a capacity of over 45,000 and has hosted major concerts by artists like Madonna and Beyoncé. - Beyond the musical lineup, EDC festivals are known for creating a multi-sensory experience by incorporating carnival themes with full-size rides, interactive art installations, and roaming performers. - Insomniac produces a wide portfolio of other major electronic music events, including the Wonderland series (Beyond, Nocturnal), Escape Halloween, and genre-specific festivals like Dreamstate for trance music.
