UFC White House Card Announced

UFC announced a historic "White House card" headlined by lightweight champion Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje and a heavyweight bout between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane. This marks the UFC's first-ever event at the White House, signaling the sport's growing mainstream acceptance.

The event, officially named "UFC Freedom 250," is scheduled for June 14, 2026, on the South Lawn of the White House. This date coincides with Flag Day and the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump. The occasion is part of the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations. This marks the first time a professional sporting event will be held at the presidential residence. While approximately 5,000 spectators are expected on the South Lawn, there will be no public ticket sales. An additional viewing area on the Ellipse is planned to accommodate over 80,000 more fans with large screens. The ceremonial weigh-ins are set to take place at the Lincoln Memorial. The UFC is covering the full cost of the event, with a budget reportedly higher than the $21 million spent on "Noche UFC" at the Sphere. No taxpayer money is being used for the production, which includes an estimated $700,000 to restore the lawn afterward. The relationship between UFC CEO Dana White and Donald Trump dates back to the early 2000s, when Trump's Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City hosted UFC events while the sport was still banned in many places. White has been a vocal supporter of Trump, speaking at Republican National Conventions and campaign rallies. In the main event, undefeated lightweight champion Ilia Topuria (17-0) will defend his title. His opponent, Justin Gaethje (27-5), is a two-time and current interim lightweight champion. This fight will be a unification bout for the lightweight title. The co-main event features Alex Pereira, the current light heavyweight champion and a former middleweight champion, moving up to the heavyweight division. He will face former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title. This gives Pereira a chance to become the first three-division champion in UFC history. The full main card includes at least five current or former UFC champions. Beyond the headliners, the card is slated to feature Sean O'Malley, Michael Chandler, Bo Nickal, and Diego Lopes in separate bouts. Fighters are expected to walk out from the Oval Office to the octagon constructed on the South Lawn. The broadcast will be available on Paramount+ and will also be simulcast on CBS, marking a significant milestone in the UFC's partnership with the network.
