(audi-mediacenter.com) Wheatley’s time at the team included overseeing Nico Hülkenberg’s first career F1 podium at Silverstone on July 6–7, 2025, after Hülkenberg rose from 19th on the grid to finish third. (formula1.com) The reshuffle comes just two rounds into the 2026 season, a timing noted across multiple outlets covering the sport’s early-season grid and results. (formula1.com) Multiple reports link Wheatley in the days beforehand with a potential move to Aston Martin — including coverage suggesting he could replace Adrian Newey in a leadership role — although Aston Martin had made no confirmation at the time of reporting. ( ) Paddock sources cited by some outlets described tensions in the senior leadership dynamic between the two men, and social-media reaction to the announcement trended widely across F1 channels.
