BINI wins big nod

Filipino girl group BINI is set to receive the Global Force Award at Billboard's Women in Music, a recognition that highlights their rising international profile. The announcement sparked sizable fan engagement online, showing regional artists continue to break into global industry moments. (x.com)

A Filipino girl group that debuted in June 2021 is now headed to one of the United States music industry’s biggest stages: Billboard said BINI will be honored at Women in Music 2026, which is set for April 29 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. (billboard.com) BINI is an eight-member act formed through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy, and the lineup is Jhoanna, Aiah, Stacey, Colet, Sheena, Maloi, Gwen, and Mikha. (billboard.com, abs-cbn.com) The group spent about two years in training before its official launch, and ABS-CBN marked that debut with the single “Born To Win” on June 11, 2021. (abs-cbn.com) BINI’s climb stopped looking local in 2024, when Billboard said the group broke into the Philippine mainstream with four viral chart-topping singles: “Karera,” “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin,” and “Cherry on Top.” (billboard.com) By February 2025, the new Official Philippines Chart named BINI the Top Local Artist of the Year, and two BINI songs, “Salamin Salamin” and “Pantropiko,” finished in the Top 5 of the country’s top streamed songs of 2024. (philstar.com) Billboard’s own Philippines edition kept stacking honors on top of that run: BINI was cited as Rising Star of the Year in 2024, Women of the Year in 2025, and Powerhouse in March 2026. (abs-cbn.com, billboardphilippines.com) The United States push is already underway: Billboard reported in September 2025 that the group had completed a first U.S. tour and a Biniverse World Tour run that included Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, London, and Dubai. (billboard.com) That same Billboard report said BINI became the first Filipino group booked to perform at Coachella 2026, with appearances set for April 10 and April 17 in Indio, California. (billboard.com, philstar.com) The award itself is built for this exact kind of crossover story: Billboard said the 2025 Global Force winner was Jennie of Blackpink, and its 2026 coverage described the honor as a marker of success on a global front. (billboard.com) So BINI is arriving at Women in Music 2026 with three things already in place: a home market that turned its songs into hits, a diaspora audience that filled overseas tour stops, and an American industry calendar that now includes both Coachella and Billboard.
