Amazon has started a nationwide weight-loss program that lets patients get GLP-1 obesity drugs through One Medical visits and Amazon Pharmacy delivery. (health.amazon.com) GLP-1 drugs mimic a gut hormone that helps people feel full and can lower appetite; brands used for weight loss include Wegovy and Zepbound. One Medical says its clinicians decide whether a pill or injection fits a patient’s medical history and treatment goals. (onemedical.com) Amazon rolled out the program this week through its primary care arm, Amazon One Medical, with prescriptions filled through Amazon Pharmacy in all 50 states. CNBC reported insured patients can pay as little as $25 a month, depending on coverage. (cnbc.com) The company built the service into two existing channels: ongoing primary care for One Medical members and one-off telehealth renewals for patients who already have a recent GLP-1 prescription. Amazon’s on-demand care pages list those renewal visits from $29 by message or $49 by video, with prices varying by state. (fiercehealthcare.com) (health.amazon.com) Amazon Pharmacy says GLP-1 medications can be shipped nationwide, and Fierce Healthcare reported same-day delivery is already available in nearly 3,000 cities. The company said that footprint is expected to reach nearly 4,500 cities by the end of 2026. (fiercehealthcare.com) That puts obesity treatment inside the same system Amazon already uses for routine primary care, urgent telehealth and home prescription delivery. Pharmaceutical Executive said the program folds weight management into mainstream care rather than treating it as a separate specialty service. (pharmexec.com) Amazon had already been expanding its GLP-1 business before this launch. In January, CNBC reported that Amazon Pharmacy began offering Novo Nordisk’s oral Wegovy in the U.S., adding another weight-loss option to its pharmacy platform. (cnbc.com) Amazon’s own help pages also show the company is still managing uneven supply for some brands. The page says Ozempic continues to face marketplace challenges even after federal shortage resolutions, and Amazon is prioritizing some existing customers for continuity of care. (amazon.com) One Medical is pitching the program as a source of “evidence-based guidance” at a moment when weight-loss advice is spreading across TikTok, podcasts and supplement marketing. Amazon’s bet is that more patients will want those decisions made inside a clinic visit, then delivered to their door. (onemedical.com)
