Epic's AI, including tools like Art, can help clinicians prepare for outpatient visits by reviewing notes and data to provide summaries. AI can also extract findings from radiology reports to ensure patients receive timely follow-up care. Epic's AI is being used to draft end-of-shift notes for nurses, incorporating data already in the patient's chart. The AI identifies orders discussed during visits and queues them up for verification. Beyond clinical uses, Epic is deploying AI to patients via a digital assistant called Emmie, which has reduced billing-related customer service messages.
