Orrery Relaunches Chasing Michelin Stars
Orrery by Pierre Minotti just relaunched in London's Marylebone with an unapologetic bid for Michelin stars. The restaurant is making no secret of its fine dining ambitions in one of London's most prestigious neighborhoods. Meanwhile, Boston's first Michelin-starred spot 311 Omakase by Chef Wei is wowing diners with 18 courses that one reviewer called "life's best food."
Orrery first earned a Michelin star back in 2000 under the leadership of chef Chris Galvin, a recognition it held until 2008. The restaurant, originally opened by the famed restaurateur Sir Terence Conran in 1997, has long been a fixture of the Marylebone dining scene. The new Executive Chef, Pierre Minotti, brings a formidable Michelin-starred background to the relaunch. He previously worked at the two-Michelin-starred Alex Dilling at Hotel Café Royal and has also spent time in the kitchens of Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester and Hélène Darroze at The Connaught. Minotti's cuisine is described as uniting classical French techniques with seasonal British produce. The relaunch of Orrery by its parent company, Evolv, is part of a broader strategy to pursue higher standards of fine dining across their restaurant group. The Marylebone neighborhood is already home to several Michelin-starred establishments, including Trishna, KOL, Lita, and AngloThai, making it a competitive landscape for fine dining. Meanwhile, 311 Omakase made history in November 2025 by becoming the first Boston restaurant to receive a Michelin star. The intimate 10-seat restaurant, located in a South End brownstone, opened in the summer of 2023. Chef Wei Fa Chen, the visionary behind 311 Omakase, honed his skills under the tutelage of Masa Takayama, the chef of New York's famed three-Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant, Masa. The 18-course omakase menu, priced at $230 per person, features high-quality seafood, much of which is imported from Japan. The introduction of the Michelin Guide to Boston has shone a spotlight on the city's culinary scene. Alongside 311 Omakase's star, several other local restaurants received Bib Gourmand recognition for good value and high-quality cooking, including Bar Volpe and Fox & the Knife.
