Foo Fighters Album April Release

Foo Fighters confirmed their 12th studio album will be released in April. The band dropped the title track and lyric video for the 10-song collection, which promises to blend their classic energy with new creative directions. Dave Grohl recently spoke for the first time about the band's split with drummer Josh Freese.

- The new album, titled "Your Favorite Toy," is set for release on April 24th and marks the band's first full-length recording with new drummer Ilan Rubin. It was recorded at the band's home studio and co-produced by the band alongside Oliver Roman. - The album's title track was the key to the record's energetic direction, according to Dave Grohl, who said it "was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording." The 10-song tracklist also includes the single "Asking For A Friend," which was released in October 2025. - This album is the follow-up to their 2023 release, "But Here We Are," which was the first album recorded after the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. Dave Grohl performed all the drum tracks on that album. - The departure of drummer Josh Freese in May 2025 was a collective band decision that "didn't happen overnight," according to Dave Grohl. Grohl mentioned that Freese himself had expressed that the band's music didn't fully "resonate with him." - Josh Freese, a prolific session drummer who has played with artists like Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, and A Perfect Circle, had been with the Foo Fighters for approximately two years. Following his departure, Freese rejoined Nine Inch Nails, while Ilan Rubin moved from Nine Inch Nails to the Foo Fighters. - The band has announced an extensive tour for 2026, with dates across Europe in June and July, followed by a North American leg in August.
