Summer Moon Coffee Opens in League City
The Texas-based coffee chain Summer Moon is opening a new location in League City this month. Known for its wood-fired roasted coffee and signature "moon milk," the shop adds to the brand's growing footprint in the Houston area.
Founded in the Texas Hill Country, Summer Moon is a family-run business that started with the purchase of coffee equipment at a local auction. This led to the first coffee shop opening in 2002 and the establishment of the Summer Moon Coffee Bar on South First St. in Austin in 2005. The company distinguishes itself with a traditional, 19th-century wood-fired roasting method. Every batch of coffee is roasted in custom-built brick ovens over seasoned Texas oak, a meticulous process that uses sight, sound, and smell to create a smooth, balanced, and never bitter coffee. A key to their popularity is the signature "Moon Milk," a sweet cream made from a secret family recipe with seven ingredients. This proprietary creamer was perfected to complement the oak-roasted coffee and is a foundational element of their popular lattes. Customers can customize the sweetness level, ordering a full, half, or quarter "moon" to their liking. From its Austin origins, the brand has expanded to over 50 locations through franchising, which began in 2015. Summer Moon now has a presence across Texas and in states such as Kansas, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Tennessee.
