Starfield rating sparks Switch 2 buzz

A Taiwan classification entry for Bethesda’s newest IP has appeared and is being read as evidence the game may come to Nintendo Switch 2 at some point, even though timing is unclear (nintendolife.com). At the same time an apparent Hytale knock‑off has landed on Switch 2, prompting Hypixel Studios to consider legal action and reiterate there are no official Hytale plans for the system (gosugamers.net).

A Taiwan ratings entry has put Starfield back at the center of Switch 2 speculation, days after Bethesda launched the role-playing game on PlayStation 5 on April 7. (nintendolife.com) (bethesda.net) Nintendo Life and other outlets reported that Taiwan’s classification database listed Starfield for Nintendo Switch 2 on April 15 and 16. Bethesda and Nintendo have not announced a Switch 2 version or given a release date. (nintendolife.com) (vgchartz.com) Ratings-board filings often surface before publishers make ports public, but they do not guarantee a launch window or a final release. That caveat matters here because the only confirmed new platform for Starfield this month is PlayStation 5. (fextralife.com) (bethesda.net) The timing fits a broader Microsoft pattern. After years of keeping Starfield off rival consoles, Bethesda owner Microsoft approved a PlayStation 5 version for April 7, alongside the “Free Lanes” update and the “Terran Armada” story downloadable content across platforms. (blog.playstation.com) (bethesda.net) Switch 2 is already on the market, which makes the rumor more concrete than the pre-launch chatter that surrounded the system in 2025. Nintendo said the console launched on June 5, 2025, at $449.99 in the United States. (nintendo.com) The same week, Switch 2 storefront policing became part of the conversation for a different reason. Hypixel Studios said it is considering legal action over Hytale: Sandbox RPG, an eShop game that is not an official Hytale release. (gosugamers.net) (ign.com) Hypixel Studios chief executive Simon Collins-Laflamme said the studio’s legal team was handling the matter, and the studio said there are “no official plans” for Hytale on Switch 2 right now. Reports said the copycat title appeared on the eShop on April 10 under the developer name RoVi Ninen. (ign.com) (gosugamers.net) (gamerant.com) That dispute lands just three months after Hytale entered early access on January 13, 2026. Hypixel said in November 2025 that it had returned to the original version of the game after regaining independence and merging more than 300 GitHub branches into a working build. (hytale.com) Put together, the two stories show how much of the Switch 2 lineup is still being defined by leaks, ratings boards and storefront moderation instead of formal announcements. Until Bethesda or Nintendo speaks publicly, the Starfield listing is a strong signal, not a schedule. (nintendolife.com) (fextralife.com)
