Partnership Brings Real-Time AI Telemetry to Motorsports

IturanMob and Griiip have formed a partnership to provide real-time telemetry and AI-powered analytics for racing and track-day vehicles. The system fuses embedded sensors, edge analytics, and cloud intelligence to deliver insights to drivers. The companies aim to connect thousands of vehicles by the end of 2026, using motorsport as a testbed for safety-critical embedded AI systems.

- Ituran, a publicly traded company on NASDAQ (ITRN), was founded in 1995 and built its business on stolen vehicle recovery technology originally developed for the Israeli Air Force. It has since expanded into a global telematics leader with over 2.5 million subscribers, providing fleet management and connected car services. - Griiip, founded by CEO Tamir Plachinsky, began in 2015 with the goal of manufacturing affordable entry-level race cars before evolving into a data technology company. It has received strategic investment from Porsche Ventures, the venture capital arm of the German sports car manufacturer. - The core of Griiip's technology is a hardware device called the 'RedBox,' which collects data from a vehicle's sensors in real-time and sends it to a central cloud platform for immediate analysis. This platform, called GriiipPerformance, is designed to make elite-level racing analytics accessible to a broader audience, including amateur drivers and sim racers. - This partnership aims to democratize professional-level analytics, moving beyond just professional series like DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) where Griiip's technology is already in use. The goal is to provide track-day drivers and teams with limited resources the ability to analyze performance metrics like acceleration, braking, and cornering on their mobile devices. - IturanMob is Ituran's smart-mobility division, formed in part through the acquisition of a 50% stake in a Brazilian car-sharing startup called Mob-Lab. This division leverages Ituran's established hardware for the growing shared economy and mobility-as-a-service markets. - While top-tier series like Formula 1 use hundreds of sensors generating over a million telemetry data points per second for complex race strategy simulations, this partnership focuses on driver-centric performance improvement at the grassroots level. - Griiip has also developed GriiipLive, a "second screen" application for fans that provides real-time data and performance metrics for both real-world and esports racing events. - The collaboration is part of Ituran's broader strategy of partnering with technology innovators. Ituran is also a founder of DRIVE, a Tel-Aviv-based startup incubator focused on smart mobility technology.
