Bugatti Destrier debuts at Pebble Beach Aug. 16

Bugatti said on Thursday that its one-off Destrier will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week and appear at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Aug. 16. The car is the latest project from the company’s Programme Solitaire division, which builds one-off commissions for individual clients. Bugatti describes the Destrier as a reworking of the track-only Bolide into a road-focused, coachbuilt-style hypercar. The company’s model page says the car keeps the Bolide’s W16 powertrain and will be shown during Monterey Car Week in August 2026. ### How close is the Destrier to the Bolide underneath? Bugatti’s own description says the Destrier is “a true BOLIDE” and retains the 8.0-liter W16 powertrain. The company lists output at 1,600 PS, while Top Gear and Car and Driver reported that figure as 1,578 bhp, the customary conversion. Car and Driver said power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Destrier is just one meter tall, making it the lowest Bugatti ever, according to the company’s model page. Bugatti says the cabin sits low between the front wings and the body narrows at the waist before widening into large rear haunches. Car and Driver reported that the Destrier drops the Bolide’s towering rear wing, shark fin and more aggressive intake treatment in favor of smoother surfaces, a wider horseshoe grille and a lower rear wing. Bugatti says the Destrier draws on a historical parallel from 1937, when one Type 57 chassis underpinned both a Le Mans-winning racing car and the Type 57SC Atlantic. The company uses that comparison to frame the Destrier and Bolide as two very different expressions from one underlying architecture.
