The 2026 iX3 marks the debut of BMW's "Neue Klasse" platform, a dedicated EV architecture using Gen6 battery technology. This platform features an 800V architecture for faster charging and improved efficiency. BMW's Gen6 batteries use cylindrical cells instead of the prismatic cells found in previous models, increasing energy density by 20%. The iX3 50 xDrive's 108.7 kWh battery allows for a WLTP range of up to 805 km (approximately 500 miles). Real-world range is estimated to be around 400 miles. The iX3's 400kW charging capability can add over 350km (217 miles) of range in just 10 minutes. A 10-80% charge can be achieved in approximately 21 minutes. However, these speeds are contingent on finding a compatible charger. The iX3 50 xDrive features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 345kW (463 bhp) and 645Nm of torque. This allows for a 0-100km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph. The 2026 BMW iX3 is priced from $109,900 in Australia. It undercuts rivals like the Audi Q6 e-tron, Porsche Macan 4, and Polestar 3. Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-2026.
