Fremont Police Shoot, Apprehend Burglary Suspect

A Fremont burglary suspect was shot and apprehended by police following a vehicle chase. The circumstances that led to the shooting are currently under investigation by local authorities.

- The suspects were being pursued in connection with a series of vehicle and residential burglaries that occurred in multiple Bay Area cities on the same day. They were also suspects in similar crimes in Fremont in 2025. - The vehicle chase concluded at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the area of Blacow Road and Mattos Court after the suspects' vehicle was disabled. - Four suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Three were arrested on suspicion of burglary, while the fourth was shot by an officer and hospitalized for their injuries. - An officer involved in the incident was also treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and was subsequently released. - The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has a standard protocol to independently investigate all officer-involved shootings within the county. This is separate from the Fremont Police Department's own internal administrative investigation. - The Fremont Police Department maintains a transparency portal with information on officer-involved shootings, including some video footage from past incidents. - This incident follows other recent major burglary ring activities in the Bay Area, including one in January 2025 that targeted Asian American households and resulted in an estimated $1 million in stolen property. Another ring was responsible for at least 80 thefts from T.J. Maxx stores in the Bay Area.
