Armani's Niece Debuts Collection

Silvana Armani, Giorgio Armani's niece, presented her first collection at Milan Fashion Week featuring fluid, essential silhouettes in a restrained palette. This marks the first Armani collection shown without direct input from the late founder, signaling a new era for the fashion house.

Silvana Armani, the late designer's niece, has been a key figure within the Armani brand for four decades, working closely with her uncle and overseeing the haute couture line since its inception. Her deep immersion in the house's codes was evident in her debut, which she described as "Classic Armani, but with a twist. Sensible pieces." Her first ready-to-wear collection, titled “New Horizons,” was presented in the intimate setting of Via Borgonuovo 21, the 17th-century palazzo where Giorgio Armani held his early shows. The collection featured a focused lineup of 57 looks, a departure from the usual 90-plus, emphasizing unstructured tailoring and fluid jackets that have long been the brand's signature. The show opened with oversized gray suits reminiscent of the iconic look Julia Roberts wore to the Golden Globes in 1990, updated for 2026. A notable shift from her uncle's aesthetic was the absence of hats and a greater emphasis on trousers over skirts, with many looks featuring wide-legged trousers and flat shoes to underscore a sense of modern wearability. This collection follows her debut as the creative lead for the exclusive Armani Privé haute couture line in Paris, a collection titled "Jade." That show was characterized by a softer, more intimate take on couture, with a focus on ease and refinement over theatricality, using a palette of jade-toned greens, pinks, and whites. The transition comes as the future of the independently owned Giorgio Armani Group is carefully managed according to the late founder's will. His succession plan mandates that the company bring in outside shareholders, with a phased sale of company stakes planned over the next five years.
