Yulu Public Relations said on May 21 that it had won a Gold Davos Communications Award for its work with Audible on the Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle, a Canadian mentorship program for emerging First Nations, Inuit and Métis writers. The award came in the “Partnership or Collaboration in Communications” category from the World Communications Forum Association, according to Yulu’s announcement and the Davos Communications Awards winners list. (compuserve.com) The recognition adds a communications-industry award to a program that Audible says is entering its 2026 cycle on June 1 and will run through Dec. 21. (audible.ca) Audible’s program page says selected writers receive a C$1,500 bursary and can participate at no cost. The announcement was distributed by GlobeNewswire on May 21 from Vancouver, British Columbia, and named Yulu as the winning agency. Yulu describes itself as a social impact public relations and program development firm. ### Which award did Yulu and Audible win? The World Communications Forum Association listed Yulu’s work on the Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle among the 2026 Davos Communications Awards winners. (compuserve.com) Yulu said it received the top honor, or gold, in the “Partnership or Collaboration in Communications” category. (audible.ca) The Davos Communications Summit & Awards 2026 was scheduled for April 23-24 in Davos, according to an event listing. The awards program says it recognizes public relations and communications work from around the world. (compuserve.com) ### What is the Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle? Audible says the Indigenous Writers’ Circle is a six-month mentorship and workshop program for emerging Indigenous writers in Canada. The program is aimed at First Nations, Inuit and Métis storytellers and offers mentorship, workshops and industry guidance. A 2020 Audible newsroom post said the program was conceived in collaboration with Yulu to use Audible’s brand and resources to expand access and opportunities for underrepresented writers. (compuserve.com) That post described the initiative as pairing emerging writers with Indigenous mentors. (klosters.ch) ### Who did Yulu credit in the collaboration? Yulu’s release named Audible and a group of Indigenous leaders, facilitators and mentors as part of the collaboration behind the program. The list included Tanya Talaga, Jordan Abel, Richard Van Camp, Katłı̨̀ą Lafferty, Joshua Whitehead, Warren Cariou and Reneltta Arluk. (audible.ca) Melissa Orozco, Yulu’s founder and chief executive, said in the release that Audible “set the gold standard” for how a global brand can support an impact program. Tessa Danelesko, Yulu’s senior account director for justice and impact programming and the program lead, said the initiative was built with Indigenous storytellers and measured against “community-defined ideas of success.” (audible.com) ### How large is the program now? Yulu said the Indigenous Writers’ Circle has served more than 100 participants and generated more than 84 earned media features across Indigenous-led and mainstream outlets. Those figures appeared in the company’s award announcement describing the program’s outcomes. (compuserve.com) Yulu’s case study says the program is now in its fifth consecutive year, while Windspeaker reported this spring that the 2026 intake marked the program’s sixth year. That difference appears to reflect how the program years are being counted across materials, but both sources describe it as an ongoing national initiative. (compuserve.com) ### What happens next for the 2026 cohort? Audible’s program page says the 2026 Indigenous Writers’ Circle starts June 1 and ends Dec. 21. The page lists mentors including Katłı̨̀ą Lafferty and says each selected writer is eligible for a C$1,500 bursary. Cabin Radio reported in March that Lafferty had joined the 2026 circle as a mentor, and Yulu’s award announcement said other mentors and facilitators include Joshua Whitehead, Tanya Talaga, Jordan Abel, Richard Van Camp, Warren Cariou and Reneltta Arluk.
