Victorinox and JBS USA Announce Partnership
Victorinox, maker of the Swiss Army Knife, has formed a strategic partnership with JBS USA, a leading global food company. The two industry leaders will unite to advance operational performance and yield optimization, though specific details of the collaboration were not released.
This partnership will establish a direct purchasing relationship and facilitate collaboration on new product development tailored to meat processing facilities. The collaboration brings together Victorinox North America President Ulrich Wohn and Jerson Nascimento, Chief Procurement Officer for JBS USA, to innovate tools for the industry. JBS USA is the world's largest protein producer, operating over 400 production plants. Its Greeley, Colorado beef facility alone employs more than 3,800 people and partners with over 175 local producers, paying them $3.1 billion for livestock each year. While famous for its pocket knives, Victorinox's household and professional knives division accounts for 60% of its total sales. The company's Fibrox Pro line is designed for culinary professionals, featuring NSF-certified, non-slip handles and high-carbon steel blades known for their edge retention. The focus on "yield optimization" directly relates to the quality and design of knives used in processing plants. Blades that offer precision, control, and durability can reduce meat waste and improve efficiency during butchering and trimming. This collaboration is part of a broader push for operational excellence at JBS, which recently announced a $200 million investment to upgrade its beef plants in Texas and Colorado. The company is also undergoing a global modernization of its enterprise software to streamline its financial and operational structures. Under the agreement, Victorinox will use its 90,000-square-foot distribution center in Monroe, Connecticut, to manage inventory and logistics for individual JBS plants. This approach aims to create a more streamlined and responsive supply chain for the essential tools used in JBS's facilities.
