Hillsborough will hold its 2026 Memorial Day commemoration on Saturday, May 23, with a military service breakfast, a parade, and a Garden of Honor ceremony. (patch.com) The day starts at 7:30 a.m. with the Salute to Military Service Breakfast at the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building. The parade follows at 10 a.m. from the intersection of Auten and Triangle roads and ends at the Garden of Honor. (patch.com) Hillsborough Township Police Corporal Frank Polizzi, an Army veteran, will serve as grand marshal after Mayor Catherine Payne announced the designation at the March 24 Township Committee meeting. Polizzi served in the Army from 2011 to 2019 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. (tapinto.net) All Hillsborough military veterans and active service members are invited to join the breakfast and lead the parade. Registration is required through the township’s Parks and Recreation office. (patch.com) The parade is also built as a townwide civic event, with veterans marching alongside local groups and vehicles. In last year’s township announcement, Hillsborough said the program brings together veterans, active-duty personnel, community groups, businesses, and local organizations. (hillsboroughnj.gov) Recent Hillsborough parades have included the Hillsborough High School Marching Band, youth groups, antique cars, military vehicles, and fire trucks along the route to the municipal complex. The township has used the same Memorial Day format in recent years, with the Garden of Honor ceremony immediately following the parade. (patch.com, hillsboroughnj.gov) Hillsborough’s official website says the township has moved its online home to hillsboroughnj.gov, where residents can find current event details and registration information. For now, the May 23 program keeps the town’s annual Memorial Day ritual centered on veterans leading the day’s public observance. (hillsborough-nj.org, patch.com)
