Huawei & China Telecom Win GLOMO Award
Huawei and China Telecom received the GSMA GLOMO for Best Mobile Innovation for Enhancing the Lives of Children and Young People at MWC 2026 Barcelona. They won for the Qingjiao Plan in China's Langcang County.
The Qingjiao Plan utilizes China Telecom's 5G network and Huawei's Cloud WeLink to create a virtual learning environment connecting teachers and students in Lancang with those in Shanghai. The project integrates 5G and Wi-Fi on school campuses. To date, the Qingjiao Plan has reached dozens of schools in Lancang County, trained over 600 teachers in rural areas, and benefited more than 5,000 students. Across China, the project has trained nearly 180,000 teachers, promoting educational equity through digital technology. Lancang Lahu Autonomous County is located in southwestern Yunnan province. It is the only Lahu autonomous county in China, with the Lahu ethnic group comprising 43% of the population. The county is named after the Lancang River (Mekong River), which forms its eastern border. Huawei's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives align with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Their CSR efforts include bridging the digital divide and supporting education. Huawei also emphasizes environmental protection and supply chain sustainability. The GSMA's GLOMO Awards recognize companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to mobile technology and industry development. Over 250 independent experts judge the awards across six categories. In 2026, six new awards were introduced, focusing on AI, financial innovation, and digital inclusion. Huawei won eight GLOMO awards in total at MWC 2026. Other wins included Best Mobile Network Infrastructure and Best AI-Powered Network Solution. ZTE and China Mobile also won multiple GLOMO awards.
