Sherpas Secures $3.2M for AI Wealth Management

Sherpas closed a $3.2 million seed round to build an AI-native operating layer for the wealth management industry. The company is creating a modular, agentic system to automate tasks for financial advisors, including portfolio optimization and compliance checks, with the round led by the family office of Mariner Wealth Advisors' founder.

- The $3.2 million seed round included participation from AUA Private Equity Capital and GoHub Ventures, in addition to the lead investment from 1248, the family office of Mariner Wealth Advisors' founder, Marty Bicknell. As part of the financing, Steve Lockshin, the founder of Vanilla and AdvicePeriod, will join the Sherpas' board of directors. - Sherpas is led by CEO Borja Edo, who was formerly the Head of Innovation Labs at LPL Financial. The founding team also includes Francisco Micó, who co-founded Finametrix, a company acquired by Europe's largest fund distribution network, AllFunds. - The company's platform is designed to be an "AI-native operating layer" rather than another application added to existing legacy systems. It aims to automate the analytical workload from investor intake to scenario modeling and drafting recommendations, reducing the process from days to minutes. - The new funding will be used to enhance the platform's decision frameworks for retirement, tax, investment, and risk planning. It will also be used to expand integrations with enterprise systems commonly used by advisory firms across the United States. - Sherpas' technology has already undergone extensive testing and deployment within large advisory organizations, operating under compliance and operations supervision to validate its real-world workflow capabilities. - The platform aims to reduce the effort required to convert prospects into clients by up to 80%, freeing up advisors to concentrate on relationships and strategy. It automates tasks like data extraction from documents, diagnostics to identify planning needs, and generating personalized proposals.
