Cloudflare Adds GPT-5.4

Cloudflare has integrated OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Codex into its ‘Agent Cloud,’ making the models available as enterprise-deployable agents for business workflows. (ecosistemastartup.com) The coverage frames the move as packaging AI into infrastructure that can be embedded in enterprise operations rather than just a standalone model release. Cloudflare said on April 13 it added OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Codex to Agent Cloud, its platform for building and running business software agents. (openai.com) Cloudflare’s press release said companies can use the setup to deploy agents that answer customers, update internal systems, and generate reports inside a production environment on Cloudflare’s network. (cloudflare.com) Agent Cloud runs on top of Cloudflare Workers AI, the company’s edge computing service for running artificial intelligence models close to users, and Cloudflare said the goal is to let enterprises build, deploy, and scale agents with lower latency and built-in security controls. (openai.com) An artificial intelligence agent is software that does more than return text: it can keep state, call tools, wait for approvals, and take actions across multiple steps. Cloudflare’s Agents documentation says its platform supports long-running models, scheduled tasks, browser-side and server-side tools, and human approval flows. (developers.cloudflare.com) Cloudflare has been building that stack for months. In June 2025, the company introduced an Agents software development kit and described it as a way to run stateful agents on Workers with persistent identity and storage. (blog.cloudflare.com) Cloudflare’s current documentation says developers are not locked to one model vendor: agents can call Workers AI models or outside providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini through the same interface. (developers.cloudflare.com) That makes the OpenAI addition less about a standalone model launch and more about packaging models inside infrastructure that companies already use for traffic routing, security, and application delivery. Cloudflare said this week it is expanding Agent Cloud with tools to build, deploy, and scale agents, not just chat interfaces. (siliconangle.com) OpenAI has been working with Cloudflare on agent tooling before this release. In July 2025, Cloudflare said OpenAI’s Agents software development kit handled reasoning and tool logic while Cloudflare’s stack handled runtime, state, and concurrency on its network. (blog.cloudflare.com) Cloudflare is also positioning itself as a broader host for OpenAI models. In August 2025, Cloudflare said it was a day-zero launch partner for OpenAI’s open-weight models on Workers AI. (blog.cloudflare.com) The immediate change for enterprise buyers is that GPT-5.4 and Codex now sit inside a managed deployment layer with storage, orchestration, and security features already attached. The next test is whether companies move from pilot chatbot projects to agents that are trusted to handle routine work in production. (cloudflare.com)
